People moved to the west to obtain farmland and the hopes of gold and a better life than in the east. At this time in the west, the only people were native americans and it was mostly wilderness that had many untamed animals such as buffalo. This was a start of a new age!
People moved west to spread out and gain new land instead of being crowded in the east. Also there were moneymaking resources like gold that enticed people to go.
They moved west because land was cheap and there was a lot of it available. Gold also drew the people west and the fact that there was little competition for businesses.

People were taking a chance moving out there and they didn't kno if they were going to die or live and adapt. They will meet Native Americans and other that have traveled West

They wanted to escape before all the bad from the war came, or accepted offers of cheap land from the government. During and after the war, the mining of gold and silver was rapid. Moving more in the west, they discovered more diseases, natural resources and methods of survival.
Settlers moved west because of the many gold mines lining the west coast. There was a lot of land out there to start new lives and better life style. but what they didn't know is that the ride to the west was one heck of a ride. Once the hit the mountains life got hard. Very fast. Harsh climates, rocky terrain. Many people died trying to cross the mountains. One the way to the Pacific ocean people met Indians, they traded, negotiated, and bargained.
